Vizag Sets Guinness World Record with Largest Crochet Event in Andhra Pradesh

Visakhapatnam made history by hosting a Guinness World Records event where 450 participants of all ages collaborated to set a global record. Together, they created an impressive 58,112 crochet squares in the shortest time, earning the title for the “Largest Display of Crochet Squares.” The event was officially recognised by a Guinness World Records representative. Mayak Kumari Deo, former convenor of Intech Visakhapatnam, served as the chief guest, while Dr. Renuka Rani, secretary of the Crafts Council of Andhra Pradesh, was the guest of honour.

Swapnil Dangarikar, a representative from Guinness World Records in London, presented a certificate to Madhavi Suribhatla, the key organiser behind the remarkable achievement. He noted that while a typical Guinness record requires 20,000 crochet squares, the group exceeded expectations by creating 58,112 squares, setting a new world record. Madhavi proudly shared that the record-breaking team included participants ranging in age from six to 86.
